PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF NEW GENERATION PRIVATE SECTOR BANKS IN INDIA

The economic growth of the country is an indicator forthe development of the banking sector. The Indian economy is expected to grow at a rate of 5 to 6 percent the country’s banking industry is probable to reflect this growth. The banking sector is laying greater importance on providing enhanced services to their customers and also advancement their technology infrastructure in order to increase the customer’s overall experience as well as give banks a competitive edge. After introduction of New Generation private sector commercial banks, the banking industry underwent key changes. The Indian banking industry was dominated by public sector banks. At present, the position has changed private sector banks with use of technology and professional management has gained a realistic point in the banking industry. This paper examined the performance of new generation private sector banks in India and also compares the performance of banks which are coming under new generation category using certain financial performance parameters during the period from 2008-09 to 2014-15. The researcher has applied some statistical tools such as ratio analysis, average and Friedman’s test through SPSS. The study shows that Kodak Mahindra Bank has the first largest new generation private sector banks in India.
